Intermountain Championships Powwow 2023
June 3-4, 2023
River’s Edge Campground
Heber, Utah
As a powwow committee, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended the 2023 Intermountain Championships Powwow, especially our community members! Special thank you to Bart Powaukee, Baac Garcia, Celena Powaukee, Joseph Kanip, and the Blackstone singers for joining us this weekend as our head staff.
Thank you to the vendors, community members, sponsors (Waterford Upstart, River’s Edge Campground, Utah Division of Indian Affairs, The Heber Valley, Sacred Circle Health Care, Utah Department of Cultural & Community Engagement, and the Crane family), donors, and partners, for contributing to this year’s amazing inaugural event! A special shoutout to the Powwow committee for their dedication to our Native community and for showing tremendous leadership throughout the weekend. Thank you to the amazing team at the River’s Edge Campground for all of your support and for hosting the powwow on their beautiful grounds this year. Special thank you to our pipe carriers and elders for their prayers that everyone gets home safe and that we have a good Powwow.
We would like to honor and voice our appreciation for the community leaders and powwow committee of years past for the Heber powwow. Their work has paved the way for us to be able to serve our community and bring this amazing event back to the Heber Valley after an almost ten-year hiatus. Our team is proud to bring this powwow back to Heber and offer a safe space for our Native community members, youth, and local community members to learn and practice our culture, and to also build bridges between cultures and people.
We hosted about 2,000 people over the weekend, including 273 dancers. We hope you had a wonderful experience with us, and we’re excited to come back to Heber next year!
Siyisgaas, Ahe'hee’, Tog’oyak, Thank You. We will see you next year!
